Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 29, 2006 Pour is nice ruddy amber with a dense 1/4 inch tan head...smell is sweet and grainy with nice caramel and molasses notes...taste is nice and sweet thourhgout, but not overly so...more of a subtle roasty malt flavor...nice lush mouthfeel...who knew a vienna could be so tasty? Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA May 23, 2006 Clear, cherrywood red-brown. Nice malty aroma. Sweet and woody, mildly astringent. Goes a bit milky towards the finish. Fruit, mild sourness. Biscuits and trace cocoa. Surprisingly complex - a bit of an ABV sting here and there. Smooth and tangy finish, medium body. azmtnbiker (20), Phoenix, Arizona, USA May 23, 2006 On tap at the brewery. Great reddish color. A little hop aroma but mostly malt. Sweet malty flavor with a very slight bitter bite. Great example of a vienna lager. Great summer beer with a nice dry finish. RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA May 20, 2006 OK. Seems like it had a vegetal note to it. Still some nice caramel aromas and flavors to it. Not my favorite GL beer, but not bad. konair1 (64), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 13, 2006 Beer at the Pier. Nice reddish color. Nice malt aroma. The flavor is of hops and caramelized malt. A very good beer. gsmitty80 (626), Washington DC, USA May 9, 2006 One of the better vienna, pilsner style beers ive had. Nice clean aroma, texture and palate. Good Beer. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 6, 2006 On tap @ Eddie George’s grill, and actually sitting next to Eddie George. Amber pour with an off white head. Aroma has some caramel and hops. Flavor has is mostly caramel up front followed by a nice hoppiness that makes this really drinkable. To this day I really don’t know why there isn’t a sixer of this in my fridge at all times. I could probably be happy drinking exclusively from Great Lakes, but where’s the fun in that? MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada May 3, 2006 Thanks for sharing Derek! Great stuff. Sampled along side Sam Adams Boston Lager. Both good, but this one stands out as the winner. Deep copper pour with a thin beige froth. Lots of caramel in the nose, followed by lots of munich and some hops to balance. Also, slight smoke is there. Very sweet malt flavours, with smoked peatm burnt sugars, and balancing dry hoppiness. Silky smooth! Why cant this be my everyday drinker? Ohh I know, cause I can’t get it here. :) THanks Derek!
