vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Apr 28, 2006 Pours reddish copper with a small white head. The aroma is roasted malt with some clean caramel. It is medium bodied with a slick feel and medium/sharp carbonation. The tast is rich roasted caramel with a sharp hop bite. The taste is crisper than the description suggest. The finish is sour hoppy - the sourness seems right, not like something went wrong causing it. The finish becomes more of a clear bitterness further down the glass. Nice beer. hopdog (5526), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 25, 2006 Updated: Apr 27, 200612oz bottle acquired in trade with OhioDad (thanks!). Poured a deeper, and clear, copper color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, a little earthy and somewhat spicy. Tastes of caramel, biscuit, and toasted nuts. Body a tad on the thin side. mikeben (344), Naperville, Illinois, USA Apr 20, 2006 This was OK. I didn’t dislike it but it is a hoppy beer which is something I don’t like. The sourness is what turns be off. I like flavor and the sweetness found here is pleasent, but the over hopping keep it from being a beer I would seek out again. Looks good color wise but though I was born in Cleveland this is only average iowaherkeye (1832), Bakersfield, California, USA Apr 11, 2006 Updated: Jul 6, 200712oz bottle, please enjoy by JUN 07/06. Pours a clear brownish amber with a small eggshell head. Aromas of spicy hops, caramel and toffee malts. Some nuttiness up front followed by the same sweet caramel and toffee into a mildly bitter finish. Some biscuity malts toward the end as well. Mildly carbonated, soft on the palate with a medium body. Good, but not fantastic. MrBunn (1520), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 9, 2006 Nice look, weak aroma. Body is a dark brownish copper... tarnished penny, with a foamy head. Aroma is grainy and a little yeasty. Mouthfeel is a little watery, but flavor is pretty nice. Flavor is grainy with toffee/caramel notes of sweetness and a bit of hops crispness in the finish. Very refreshing, but not very hearty. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Mar 24, 2006 From a 12 oz. long neck brown bottle with a blurb about the lager and a best before on the side of label. Made a good appearance, poured a red hued amber with a small foamy pale tan head that settled into a thin, semi-clingy lacing, good, active carbonation. Had a nice toasted grainy nose with whiffs of floral and herbal hops and a quiet sweetness around the edges. A smooth, chewy, full feeling, light bodied mouth feel, very good drinkability. A big, delicious toasted grainy and caramel malty taste, a gentle herbal bitterness showing up towards the middle and a dry, semi-sweet, grainy finish, highly quaffable.
foutzdj (7), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA does not count Mar 14, 2006 deep amber color, strong aroma, sweet and smokey. The palate is awesome. Thick in the mouth, a great palate for a lager. Great taste, not too strong aftertaste. I was really impressed with this one Fantomas23 (463), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA Mar 5, 2006 And I thought it would be a real bummer to have Eliot Ness show up to a beer tasting, eleven brews in. Quite the contrary. An amber lager with a kind note of malty-sweetness. Untouchably refreshing. Drinking this is better than smashing a cart full of barrels. Unless of course, you’re Eliot Ness.
