Pours a clear brownish amber with a small eggshell head. Aromas of spicy hops, caramel and toffee malts. Some nuttiness up front followed by the same sweet caramel and toffee into a mildly bitter finish. Some biscuity malts toward the end as well. Mildly carbonated, soft on the palate with a medium body. Good, but not fantastic. MrBunn (1525), Western, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma is grainy and a little yeasty. Mouthfeel is a little watery, but flavor is pretty nice. Flavor is grainy with toffee/caramel notes of sweetness and a bit of hops crispness in the finish. Very refreshing, but not very hearty. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA

Made a good appearance, poured a red hued amber with a small foamy pale tan head that settled into a thin, semi-clingy lacing, good, active carbonation. Had a nice toasted grainy nose with whiffs of floral and herbal hops and a quiet sweetness around the edges. A smooth, chewy, full feeling, light bodied mouth feel, very good drinkability. A big, delicious toasted grainy and caramel malty taste, a gentle herbal bitterness showing up towards the middle and a dry, semi-sweet, grainy finish, highly quaffable.

The palate is awesome. Thick in the mouth, a great palate for a lager. Great taste, not too strong aftertaste. I was really impressed with this one Fantomas23 (463), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Quite the contrary. An amber lager with a kind note of malty-sweetness. Untouchably refreshing. Drinking this is better than smashing a cart full of barrels. Unless of course, you’re Eliot Ness. gilvanblight (390), Windsor, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 5, 2006 Deep red pour, quickly fading head. Deep strong aroma. Cloudy to the point of being near opaque. Fruit and spice in the scent, sweet caramel notes. Very bitter for a lager. Licorice taste with caramel. Very weak aftertaste. Alcohol content suprised me as I didn’t note it in the taste and only noticed after. dkoonce (883), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA

This beer pours a reddish dark amber with an aroma of hops. The body is full and the finish is long. Too bad I was driving or, I’d have had a second. OldRaspy (292), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 28, 2006 Pour was a dark amber with a reddish tint and a off-white head. Aroma was caramel malt with a touch of hops in the background. The flavor is wonderful. The sweet caramel malts make this a medium bodied beer. The initial sweet flavor is followed by just enough bitter bite to let you know the hops are there. Leaves you craving more.
