puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Feb 14, 2006 A beer that is much better drank cold. Started out with rich malts backup by strong german earthy hop pressence, very smooth, lots of caramel and cookie flavors... as it warmed it lost pretty much all hops and was overcome by almond and cookie flavors. Not bad warm at all but not as strong. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA Feb 11, 2006 (02.06.06) 12 oz brown bottle purchased from DiCarlo’s, Mundelein, IL. ABV 6.2%. Bottle states to enjoy before 3/21/06. Clear amber ale having a small white head. No discernable carbonation. Caramel/sweet malt aromas. Medium bodied that starts with light malt sweetness and fruity/caramel flavors. Finishes dry with light hop bitterness. Well-balanced. A very enjoyable amber ale. donvitozou (141), memphis, Tennessee, USA Feb 11, 2006 pours deep brownish amber with slight head. smells of caramel and starts off with hearty flavors like a stout, but finishes cleanly and crispy like a lager. a delicious mix of flavors MikeMac (185), Wyandotte, Michigan, USA Feb 9, 2006 Pours a deep amber red not much of head Aromas were rich with hops and carmel malt some fruit in there as well .Flavor was balanced with with fruit malt and hops. Saarlander (1577), Saarlouis, Germany Feb 9, 2006 Malty, sweet Ruby brew. Actually easier drinking than I was expecting, but more of a plus for this one. I really am not too much of a fan of the style, but this one is great, can’t wait to have again! Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA Feb 7, 2006 Bottle. Nice deep clear amber on the pour. Very nice head. Scents of fruit and malt. Some bitterness on the palate, but also peach and apples and some sweetness. Very smooth and balanced. Thanks Beervana. heavyvermin (3), Illinois, USA does not count Feb 6, 2006 Always a fan of Great Lakes. My personal prefernece is toward less sweet. That acknowledged I feel it’s a fine session beer. kujo9 (1077), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Feb 6, 2006 12 oz bottle: Medium copper w/ a lasting off white head. Heavy toasty malt aroma w/ some light caramel and the faintest hint of roast; clean! Well balanced, clean toasty malt flavor w/ a hint of caramel. Malt dominated flavor into the finish which is semi dry; aftertaste is a bit of bitterness, but again, clean. Fuller light body, medium carb., smooth. A good solid beer from GLBC. Flavorful enough to keep your attention and want more!
