sandwichpants (117), Royal Oak, Michigan, USA Jun 21, 2005 From a bottle, at home, into a pub glass. Wonderful deep red/orange color with a modest, rocky and well maintained head. Nice aroma from this one (others tasted like they weren’t stored well for some reason), smells like a lager, but a tad more rich, with a bit more fruity hops. Taste follows the aroma with a bit more emphasis on a deeper version of the typical lager malt flavour. A beer does lots of things well but is not in any way exceptional, nice and casual, great with grilled food (such as german sausages). pobenohne (504), Northern Liberties, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 14, 2005 Bottle at Panini’s on the OSU campus. Sorry, but had to blow through this one and get a draft of Blue Moon - another example of a style of beer that just doesn’t do it for me. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 13, 2005 Mild toasted sweet malts and butterscotch. Nice fruity hops, mild orange blossom. Dark amber clear with thin off-white lacing head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts mildly acidic and bitter, with toasted malt and sugary quality. A bit sweet in the finish with nutty bitterness and some salty after. Decent lager but not remarkable. Tubbfan (144), Joliet, Illinois, USA Jun 9, 2005 Colored like Jim Beam, cream colored head, light malt flavor, hint of hops, clean finish. Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Jun 7, 2005 Bottle: Aroma of caramel with light hops. Pours a transparent amber with a small white head. Fruit and buttery caramel up front with a well balanced a very tastey grapefruit hop finish. Very good. Ughsmash (3981), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jun 6, 2005 Reddish-amber pour with a thin beige head. Very nice malty aroma, with some toffee, caramel, and lighter spices noted. Mouthfeel was very smooth, with flavors of bread, caramel, and brown sugar. Finish was of roasted malts and subtle hops. Very good brew, especially for the style! Would make a fine session beer. BückDich (4793), McCall, Idaho, USA May 31, 2005 Amber orange color, nice layer of head & lacing. Nose of rich malts; toffee & creme, a soufle of scents. The flavor has a rich reduced flavor, candy cane sweetness & underlying balance. Best Vienna Ever. PWalk (337), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 30, 2005 One is greeted by a great roasted malt aroma when the beer is poured out. Flavor is much the same, malt and roast fill the palate nicely. Good beer.
