scrizzz (1246), kirkland, Washington, USA May 20, 2009 Rich copper, barely tan head. Dry caramel roast aroma. Fairly full bodied, dry and dusty, though not like old stale malt, this is woodsy with a brown sugar finish. Maybe heavy for the style, but I enjoyed it. RHeastings (377), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 17, 2009 Enjoyed via draft and 12 oz bottle. Pours a light to medium copper color. Notes of Munich malt dominate the nose, almost rendering one the feeling of being in a pub in Vienna, or perhaps at some large festival eating bratwurst. Similar notes come through in the palate. A wondrous malt note - simple in terms of flavor, but extremely satisfying - comes through on the palate. This is easily the best Vienna Lager I’ve ever tasted, and, for the money, one of the best beers made in the United States. trayns (237), Beverly Hills, Michigan, USA May 17, 2009 Bottle. Pours a deep brown amber color with a smaller head. Aroma is sweet caramel and malts. The taste is surprisingly sweet and matly. Palate was nice, but too sweet to drink more than a few. . . Not sure if this is typical of a vienna
WakeandBake (422), Greenville, Michigan, USA May 9, 2009 Bottle. A bright copper color body with a medium sized white head, medium carbonation, nice spotty lacing . Aroma is awesome light toasty grains and bread with just a bit of sweet fruit and spicy hops. Flavor is as good as the aroma fruity, spicy, smokey, very balanced, very complex, toasty nutty caramel, a crisp full mouthfeel, very quaffable, A very very good brew
Thank you GLB , nice work ! AndyReynolds (280), Wilder, Kentucky, USA May 8, 2009 Bottle. Pours a rich amber with a thin head. Aroma is sweet malts and yeast. Notes of bread, pine, caramel, and hops come out as well. Taste is hoppy than I expected, but the finish is dry and stronf with malts and dark fruit. I am not a big lager fan, but this one is drinkable. madvike (301), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 8, 2009 Bottle - Beautiful copper pour with a big foamy head. Sweet caramelly malt on teh nose -- smells clean and crisp. Taste is hoppier than I expected -- there’s a good snap when the beer hits the back of your mouth. I actually want a bit more malt to balance it, though it’s still very drinkable. Smooth and non-offensive in the mouth. Nice, clean, and sessionable. apingos (77), Rockford, Illinois, USA May 5, 2009 bottle. Poured amber with a nice head. A very smooth med. mouth feel. Balanced like most Great Lakes brews I’ve tried. Very stout like and very drinkable. Haslinger (640), Syracuse, New York, USA May 4, 2009 Sweet ass bottle. Eliot Ness is the man. Nice clear amber color with a decent sized head.Really great smell of malt and some hops. Real drinkable but with some great hops and a hint of sweet malt
This beer tastes awesome! Definitely my favorite Great Lakes to this point would buy again
