Commercial Description:
Deep Amber red color, with a fragrant malt aroma. Flavorful notes of rich caramelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize on the palate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident today.

Pours a lovely amber with a nice head. Slightly hoppy, balanced with malt and a little bitterness. Excellent stuff.

Poured amber with a white head. Aroma of caramel and fruit. Sweet candy caramel with a hint of fruit. Not bad.

Bottle. Amber hue, thin head. Nose is a balance of hops and malt. Smooth body, taste similar to aroma- sweet malt and faint hops for balance. This isn’t terribly complex, but I don’t think that’s what they were going for either. This is a real nice quaffer. Reminds me of a Sam Adams Boston Lager with a touch of cinnamon at the end and a bit more alcohol present. Well made.

12 oz bottle. Pours copper with an average fizzy off white head. Smells of roasted grain and caramel. Some tastes of hops, but mostly roasted malt, toffee, and bread crust. Aftertaste is bitter. Nice body and mouthfeel.

12 oz. bottle from the Binnys Singles Rack (Orland Park, IL). I may have a cellar full of beers that need to be drank.. but somehow I can’t pass the Binny’s Singles Rack! Curses! Pours a beautiful sunstruck copper, dark notes, transparent, well carbonated, with moderate khaki head that subsides to a decent amount and laces. Aromas apparent straight from the pour with very nice toasty malt notes, biscuits, toffee, and bready notes without being too intimidating. Light hoppy bouquet, but malt dominant. Initial has a good body for the style, light but sustaining, having nice bready and biscuity malts balanced with a very formidible bitter noble hoppiness. Very well balanced, light, yet extremely flavorful as the malt sticks to the palate, and the hops balance and stick to the aftertaste. This is a wonderful sessioner! Cheers!

Wow! Just wanted to get that out there first. Ok. 12 oz bottle, pours a lovely reddish amber color, significant head, great lacing. Aroma is caramel malt, toffee. Flavor is a strong berry taste up front, surprisingly, followed by a wash of malt and hops. Caramel aftertaste. Body is a bit thin, but not too thin. Overall, this is excellent.
