Commercial Description:
Deep Amber red color, with a fragrant malt aroma. Flavorful notes of rich caramelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize on the palate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident today.

Bottled. Soft, sweet, mildly fruity and malty aroma. Medium-dark copper-brown color, clear, with a slight, fading head. Flavor profile is mild and lightly sweet, some light brown sugar and gentle nutty breadiness mingling at the finish with some lightly spicy hop and lingering dark grainy sweetness. Smooth, lightly carbonated palate with a light-medium body. Highly drinkable and would make for an excellent session beer. At least, if I had more than the one bottle, it would.

12oz, thanks kmyers8807! Pours clear dark orange with a thick and lacy pale orange head. Piles of sweet caramel and bread in the aroma. Medium-full body and light carbonation. Full, rounded taste of stewed prunes, caramel, nuts and noble hops. Dry finish. Nice balance.

bottle - Pours clear amber with a one finger white head. It has a light aroma of caramel malt and citrus hops. The flavor has the expected caramel malt and a well balanced hops flavor. Light to medium body and very drinkable, it’s a fine session brew without being outstanding.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a beautiful ruby-chestnut color with a large dark tan head. The aroma was sour, tangy and very malty. The flavor was tangy, bitter, nutty, very malty and had a moderate floral hop presence. The finish was long and malty. The body was surprisingly thick. Nice.

Yeast aroma upon opening the bottle. Taste is better than the dortmunder and the burning river probably because bitter hops turns my taste buds. Has a good finish without the lingering bitterness of the other two. I must say this is only slightly better than your typical pale yellow american beer. Will not buy again. So far, edmund fitz is the best of the variety pack. I still must taste holy moses, but don’t care for that name.

Bottle. Amber in colour with a beige coloured head. The aroma was malty ( lots of bread, caramel and cookies) with some citrus. The flavour was of cookie dough, roasted nuts, caramel. Smooth mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes with a medium lingering bitterness. Quite enjoyable.

On tap @ Eddie George’s grill, and actually sitting next to Eddie George. Amber pour with an off white head. Aroma has some caramel and hops. Flavor has is mostly caramel up front followed by a nice hoppiness that makes this really drinkable. To this day I really don’t know why there isn’t a sixer of this in my fridge at all times. I could probably be happy drinking exclusively from Great Lakes, but where’s the fun in that?

Have to say I’m surprised at the scores for this one. I wasn’t impressed at all. Pours a maroon transluscent color with a medium head. Smell is a bit sour, slightly skunky, and metallic tart maltiness. Not terrible, but not inviting...Taste is not crisp at all, but rather sour smooth caramel. While drinkable, I wouldn’t recommend it. If this as as good as the style gets, maybe I just don’t like Viennas as much as I though I did..
