Commercial Description:
Deep Amber red color, with a fragrant malt aroma. Flavorful notes of rich caramelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize on the palate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident today.

Have to say I’m surprised at the scores for this one. I wasn’t impressed at all. Pours a maroon transluscent color with a medium head. Smell is a bit sour, slightly skunky, and metallic tart maltiness. Not terrible, but not inviting...Taste is not crisp at all, but rather sour smooth caramel. While drinkable, I wouldn’t recommend it. If this as as good as the style gets, maybe I just don’t like Viennas as much as I though I did..

had this on a sail boat and I wasn’t exactly taking notes... but..I did find it more enjoyable than any other lager I’ve ever had, thats not saying anything at all though.. but..Very spicy, very clean, a tad too sweet IMO..but enjoyable!

via trade with OhioDad - Pours a very clear deep amber color (almost red). Initial head fades to nothing quickly. Very light carbonation. Has a nice grain, grass aroma. Has a light malt sweetness flavor. A smooth hop bitterness comes through at the end. Medium body. A nice, smooth easy drinking beer. Thanks Scott.

Amber pour with gooey head and lace. Aroma of roasted malt. A maltiness balanced by a decent medium bitter. Medum bodied with good carbonation. A pretty special beer overall.

Brownish red color, nice tal tan head that seems to be taking it's time to die down. The aroma is malty sweet, hoppy and some what citrusy.Nice flavor medium sweet, pretty hoppy but not in an over powering manner but quite pleasant.the feel is some what thin meaning a slight watery feel. This has a nice sweet malt hop after taste that has some decent lasting power.Really make me wish i had more of these brews. Thanks to Jskendzel for this one.

This beer was mighty tastey! It was rich in an reddish coloured pour. Soft fluffy medium sized head with malty taste. Caramel flavor was prevalent, and it was a really filling brew.

Deep, vaguely hazy reddish-copper, with a thin, nicely firmed lasting head. Great nose, very malty with lots of caramel, also a bit sweet. Wonderful flavor, simply huge malts, nicely caramel-sweet with butterscotch and maybe a slight bit of apple tartness. Palate is the best part, very sticky and full. Great, great stuff, currently voted in as the best lager I’ve ever had. I would bathe in this on a daily basis had I that option.
