Smell is rich and fruity, with some caramel and malt hints. Taste is smooth and refreshing, mouthfeel is pretty smooth. Certainly deserving of its top in this style, as Ive not had a better Vienna. Good beer, very good session beer. shp555 (1690), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 27, 2003 Medium sized tight beaded tan head, remains as a slight ring around the inside of my tasting glass. Unfortunate , hazy amber/copper color. A really clean malt, grainy nose, bready. Medium body, kinda slick. Good malt flavors, but as it warms some slight bandaid flavors show up. Fairly dry finish. douglas88 (1669), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 15, 2007 Granted, the bottle that I am rating is slightly out of date (best before June 07), but I don’t think drinking it 4-5 months past it’s "prime" will make much of a difference. Or does it? This beer just wasn’t very good, which is strange because I absolutely love Great Lakes. An aroma of iced tea, lightly sweet with a bit of a twang to it. Appearance is stunning. A beautiful reddish/orange hue, mostly clear with a nice 1 inch head on pour which disipated to a thin scummy foam. The thing about the flavor was the tartness/sour factor which wasn’t pleasing at all, especially in a lager. I would almost dismiss it as hop bitterness, but it reminds me of some kind of bug spray. I will definitely have to hunt down a fresher bottle and will re-rate if/when I do. But until that time, this beer was a letdown.
