Commercial Description:
Deep Amber red color, with a fragrant malt aroma. Flavorful notes of rich caramelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize on the palate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident today.

Poured a nice dark amber color with a decent lingering head. Taste is of nuts with some lingering fruit qualities in the backdrop.

Thanks OhioDad. Gorgeous clear deep amber beer, thin off-white head. Sweet toast and caramel, Munich malt, very clean, but rich malt character. Flavour is toasty with a hint of brown sugar. Noble hop aroma and flavour throughout. Great balance and flavour. Creamy body. LIngering breadiness with herbal noble hops. Refreshing, complex, clean and very well made. Their lagers are first-rate.

Bottle from miketd. Golden amber and tawny brown colored body, near perfect clarity. Wonderfully rich nose of dry nutty wood, crisp caramel malt and fruity, dried leaves. Vinuous, held togethor well but not thick; fresh and delicious light sweetness that turns moderately dry, bready and nutty (chestnuts) in the finish. Really good stuff.

The commercial description says it for me. This deep amber brew is full of solid malt flavor with a nice balance on the hops. Full-bodied and refreshing with a crisp finish, this beer reminds a hop-head like me that lagers can be damned good drinks.

Clear amber with a substantial soft light tan head. Light toffee and toast aroma, with undertones of light fruit and floral hops. Malty, buttery toast with a touch of orange marmalade. Sample seems a bit dated, but malt still comes through, will revisit when a fresher sample presents itself.

Bottle@Home. Fruity, herbal aroma with a hint of rust. Amber color, beige head, good lace. Very sweet, malty, light bitter, fruity, hint of cookies. Quite full, almost syrupy. Well balanced.
