Commercial Description:
Deep Amber red color, with a fragrant malt aroma. Flavorful notes of rich caramelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize on the palate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident today.

Location: 12 oz bottle from jcos, 11/22/09

Aroma: The nose has lots of caramel, toffee, and sweet fruits, with notes of cereal/bread and earthy hops
Appearance: Pours a clear amber color with a disappearing off-white head and light lace
Flavor: Flavor is medium-high sweetness, with a bit of earthy bitterness for balance
Palate: The body is light-medium, with some lively carbonation, and a somewhat sticky mouthfeel
Overall Impression: Overall, this is turns out to be a well-structured and tasty beer, maybe a drop too sweet for my palate, but very good none-the-less. One that works well as both a highly drinkable brew, and a nice example of its style. Truly a nice beer that, that you might say even borders on being "Untouchable" (sorry, I couldn’t resist, it was just too easy...) No, it’s not quite that good, but it is really solid, and I can’t pass up an easy joke.

Pours a dark amber color with a thin white head. Aroma is malty and fruity. Flavor is similar to the aroma with a slightly hoppy finish. A good, smooth brew

The third Great Lakes offering that I’ve tried, and they haven’t failed to impress. Imagine if someone told you twenty years ago that you could get great beer from Cleveland.

Pours a dark "merlot" color. With a small white fluffy head. Aroma of light malt and spice. Flavor is deep and rich, malt. Alcohol and spicy hops also present. Palate is very full. A very nice brew!

Lovely aroma of malts and raisins almost. Great smooth malty fruity taste. Sits very nicely on the palate and goes down perfectly. Excellent beer.

Cloudy amber with tight cream head that fades quickly. Sweet malt aroma. Taste falls flat - old bottle. Need to re-rate.

this was some good stuff! nice reddish amber hue...small white head; aroma of caramels, sweet malts, fruits, and mild hops...flavor was a big surprise, and was huge in fruity malts, caramelized sugars, and light fruit...great mouthfeel
