Commercial Description:
Deep Amber red color, with a fragrant malt aroma. Flavorful notes of rich caramelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize on the palate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident today.

clear and red. limited head. smells earthy, caramel-appleish. sweet malty aroma, kinda lagerish, which surprised me since i was expecting an amber ale. somewhat empty flavor. surprisingly carbonated. after a few sips i like the sorta lingering syrupy finish. a bit light on the flavor/palate overall, but i can appreciate this.

Another good beer. Damn Clevelanders seem to know their beer. By only complaint was it was a tad on the hoppy side for me

Bottle from Canals, Coppery amber pur with a caramel malt aroma. Sweet malt flavors that actually taste full in the mouth. There is a bitter finish to it but I liked it.

Wonderful bitters that mellow through the bottle. Somewhat sweet but very nice finish. Decent copper colored brew with a nice head.

A sharp, well-rounded malt fest, with dark brown sugar, toast, biscuits, maybe some caramel. Slighty woody, herbal hop overtones. Smooth, firm mouthfeel. Great sandwich beer. Thanks to cb and TAR for a great night out!

pours an amber color with a medium white head. the aroma is light with some fruits, malts, and hops. Tastes similar to the aroma with some bitterness from the hops, but not too much. A good brew.

Dark amber, malty, bitter, vegital ? metalic? strange. I didn’t like it.

Beautiful amber lager which shows off some of the finest malt I’ve encountered. Complex caramel, smoky and toasted flavors which slide down on a creamy palate. Malt is rather like Mahr’s Ungespundet or Stoudt’s Gold, but more complex. Superb.
