Oct 2, 2005 Poured a dark brown, with the aroma of caramel corn. Sweet with a toasted malt back. A little light bodied, but it just works. A classic lager. Thanks to OhioDad for the great trade.

Apr 16, 2002 rufous in color (that’s birdwatcher talk for chestnut). nice to behold when it crashes into a glass, but then, like the legend of sleepy hollow, we find were about one head short in this drama. no matter, this fizzes well upon agitation to prove it’s young and vital. the aroma is to die for, rich caramel, you could dip apples in this for haloween treats. they’d be just for grown ups though, ’cause i can detect the alcohol too. hypnotic whiskey bread-pudding aroma, flavor is sweet and full, enough bitterness for complexity. finish (of the glass) is way too soon. my favorite great lakes.

Oct 21, 2008 12oz bottle served in a lager glass. Beautiful sunset amber body topped by nearly two inches of lasting off-white head. The nose is very balanced with some nice malt sweetness and spicy hops struggling for dominance. Flavors of bread, toffee, nuts, and grass. Hops win the battle at the finish though not by much. Superb balance throughout. An excellent, well crafted lager.

Jun 10, 2006 Bright amber color with medium tan head that lingers thru half glass and good lacing. Aroma was apples and bananas, with a hint of grapes. Initial flavor was the fruits, some hops and malt. At mid-glass, taste became more malty, and alcohol, though only 6.2 ABV, was more noticeable. A good smooth warming finish. I had heard there were freshness and dating questions with these Great Lakes Brews, but I’ve had no complaints so far with this or Dortmunder.

Jun 19, 2008 Oh my god im in heaven Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a decent beige head. The aroma is caramel and toffee with some citrus and floral hops. The flavor is similar with the malts being ever so slightly more present than the hops. Overall this is pretty well balanced. Medium bodied with good carbonation.

Jul 15, 2009 [Bottle] Pours clear reddish-amber with a small beige head. Aroma is floral hops, snap peas, and some alcohol. Taste has lots and lots of barley, light sweetness up front, and some subdued bitterness. Medium-thin mouthfeel, very smooth, and has an extremely long finish. Very simple, but enjoyable, and something that would be an outstanding session beer.

Feb 5, 2006 Bottle obtained on campus at OSU. Very taste stuff. Reddish amber color and great aroma. Well balanced between sweet and bitter.

Aug 17, 2004 A very good vienna. Crisp, with a full flavor and nice color. Really a pleasant brew and easy drinking. Another worthy offering from Great Lakes.
