Commercial Description:
Deep Amber red color, with a fragrant malt aroma. Flavorful notes of rich caramelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize on the palate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident today.

Sweet hoppy aroma, malty taste with sweet finish. Beautiful color. Perfect night cap for raking leaves-day.

Great Lakes Sample Pack from Woodman’s Oak Creek. Great Color Red bordering burnt orange. Crystal clear, with impressive carbonation and an ivory head. Aroma is toffee, caramel, and a hint of roasted nuts. Flavor is mostly malt, with just enough hops to balance it out. Highly drinkable...clean and refreshing.

12oz - Nice amber pour under dark tan head, substantial froth of small bubbles. Honey on nose. Light wood in the front, offsetting a bitter, flat aftertaste. This tastes like a bad bottle. Looking at nearby recent ratings I’m wondering if they’ve had a bad batch.

Bottle. Clear dark amber pour. Nice toasty nutty caramel sweet malt aromas and flavors, some light spicy hop. Clean finish and decent body. Good vienna lager.

Orange-copper pour with a thin straw colored lace and little head. Big earthy biscuit malt aroma with a hint of molasses, honey, cinnamon, and some ale yeast fruitiness that I can’t quite place. Lots and lots of chewy bread, dough, biscuit, and caramel malt flavors with some fresh fruit and spicy hops on the finish. Solid medium body with plentiful carbonation and a crisp finish. A very tasty and complex, almost ale like lager.

bottle. Aroma: Toasted malts, and a hint of roasted nuts. Also getting a touch of fresh grain. Appearance: Rich coppery red and clear. Head was full and off-white, but diminished quickly. Light lacing. Flavor: Lots of toasty malt with notes of citrus and grass. Also getting a little brown sugar. Bitterness was just right and melded well with the malt flavor. Palate: Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Finish was crisp, but could have been a little crisper. Overall: A nice, smooth, easy drinking beer with enough flavor to keep it interesting.

Thanks to Mike for this one. Dark amber color with a creamy beige head that doesn’t last long but leaves a thick ring at the edge of the glass. Aroma is light. Caramel malt mostly. Flavor has a velvety texture mingling with the heavy malt flavors, lightly balanced with hops.
