Malts, biscuit, cookie dough, and floral esters on the nose. Malty, chewy, caramel, cookie dough, slightly sweet, very smooth, oh yeah this is damn tasty! WOW, by far the best Vienna I have had. No real bitterness, just a nice malty flavor with hints of caramel. Clean, crisp, with a nice finish. Body and mouthfeel are very appropriate. I would easly have this one again. Thanks goes out to TChrome for the trade!

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 9, 2008 In short: A fruity and slightly sweet dark larger. Good beer but a bit overrated
How: Bottle 12oz, from Beerman6686. Thanks a lot Dan!
The look: Clear amber body with a short-lived beige head
In long: Candy-like crisp toffee sweetness. Quite a bit of dried fruits of all kinds, like taking mouthful of one of those grocery store mix-bag dried fruits. I personally found the floral hopping insufficient. This is a good beer and undoubtedly one of the best American dark lager I’ve had. But I pub-crawled the land of dark lagers (Czech Republic) and this Eliot Ness doesn’t measure up to the good Czech Viennas, it barely measures up to the average Czech Viennas. I basically found the quality reputation of this Eliot Ness as exaggerated as the real accomplishments of the man by the same name.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 13, 2004 Out of the bottle this brew pours a cloudy sunset red with a tall off-white head. Amazing hop aroma, sicky hops, with a caramel sweetness beside it. Taste starts with a melty sweet caramel malt, very well balanced with a nice finishing bitterness. This brew has a thick body, almost syrupy on the palate. Great brew with a nice crispness. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 26, 2008 Bottle from the Beerman6686. Nice amber color with a thin lasting head. Aroma is nice sweet toasted bread with a touch of fruity darker caramel malts. Flavor is sweet and toasted, a bit fruity with a super clean crisp finish. Not overly hoppy, just enough bitterness to clean the palate. Just plain well made and easy to drink. Aubrey (2782), Denver, Colorado, USA

Fairly intense and difficult to describe. Sweet, but complemented with alcohol well. Overall, quite the interesting and well-made brew. maniac (2773), Richmond, Virginia, USA
