Commercial Description:
Deep Amber red color, with a fragrant malt aroma. Flavorful notes of rich caramelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize on the palate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident today.

I get this stuff for $8 per six pack up the street ... they usually have the bottles that are past their expire date but it still is good relatively speaking ...Get fresh stuff if you can . Great all around beer my friends ... and oh , what a session beer ... I want to go to Vienna and taste the real deal someday ... but I bet this is just as good, something tells me ...

On tap at brewery. Pours a lovely carmel color. The head is cream colored and is wonderfully thick and full. It remains throughout and laces the glass nicely. The aroma is malty and spicy. The flavor is noticably hoppy with some light spice and caramel notes. Finishes rather dry along side the sweet malty background.

From a bottle. Pours dark brown/amber. Simultaneously nutty and hoppy aroma. Extremely well-balanced and drinkable. A nice level of chocolatey roast inter-mingled with a fresh dose of hops and precise carbonation. One of those beers you can drink all night. Different and tasty enough to be fantastic.

From bottle. August Dayton Beer Tasting event - Favorite Summer Brews. Pours a amber color with a decent off-white head. Very malty aroma with more hops than expected. Good mouthfeel with a lingering floral taste. A very good Vienna lager.......

Not a real fan of ambers but this is very good. Nice head and lace. Finishes clean and dry. Recommend to anyone just starting to try something other than the usual.

Out of the bottle this brew pours a cloudy sunset red with a tall off-white head. Amazing hop aroma, sicky hops, with a caramel sweetness beside it. Taste starts with a melty sweet caramel malt, very well balanced with a nice finishing bitterness. This brew has a thick body, almost syrupy on the palate. Great brew with a nice crispness.

12 oz. bottle. Pours copper with thin off-white head. Aroma is malty with pine notes and slight alcohol. Taste is sweet caramel malt and nuts with a nice hop finish. Extremely well balanced. A little too dry in the finish perhaps. Still, this might be the best dark lager I’ve ever had--admittedly I’m not usually an aficionado of the style. Very good, worth seeking out.
