Commercial Description:
Deep Amber red color, with a fragrant malt aroma. Flavorful notes of rich caramelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize on the palate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident today.

Lovely aroma of malts and raisins almost. Great smooth malty fruity taste. Sits very nicely on the palate and goes down perfectly. Excellent beer.

A very deep orange color with a thick tan head that lasted. Very malty sweetness but balanced with the bitterness. I laughed when I read ultraspank’s comment about the hop burbs because I experienced the same thing but wasn’t sure how I could tactfully say anything about it. This is a very smooth beer that gets nicer as you drink it.

glbc. Pours a nice deep gold with a fluffy lasting head and great lacing. Aroma of nutty toasty and bready malts with a nice light metallic and moslty herbal hop character. Toasty malt flavors with light munichs or vienna malts, nutty, and biscuity with a slight sweetness and a great crisp bitterness. Nice and easy to drink.

Agreat beer and even better with food. Great Lakes does beer right and this brew is a fine example of their work. Closer to a typical -- though excellent -- American amber ale than a true Vienna lager though. Chewy and fruity with a great balance!

Wow! Now this is a great brew. Pours out a deep amber color with a thick beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty and a bit fruity. Flavor is very much the same. I found it very difficult not to gulp this brew. Outstanding job!

One is greeted by a great roasted malt aroma when the beer is poured out. Flavor is much the same, malt and roast fill the palate nicely. Good beer.

A great lager, available at many of the local bars-- but best at the brewery. Very nice balance of hops and malt. Easy to drink.

Clear ruby red with nice thick off white head. Aroma is sweet malts with nice citrus hops. Flavor is the same but more sweet. Finishes clean.
