Commercial Description:
Deep Amber red color, with a fragrant malt aroma. Flavorful notes of rich caramelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize on the palate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident today.

Reddish-amber pour with a thin beige head. Very nice malty aroma, with some toffee, caramel, and lighter spices noted. Mouthfeel was very smooth, with flavors of bread, caramel, and brown sugar. Finish was of roasted malts and subtle hops. Very good brew, especially for the style! Would make a fine session beer.

On tap @ Eddie George’s grill, and actually sitting next to Eddie George. Amber pour with an off white head. Aroma has some caramel and hops. Flavor has is mostly caramel up front followed by a nice hoppiness that makes this really drinkable. To this day I really don’t know why there isn’t a sixer of this in my fridge at all times. I could probably be happy drinking exclusively from Great Lakes, but where’s the fun in that?

A very good beer. One that will be kept on a regular basis in the beer fridge. Now to try out their other varieties.

On Tap @ Great Lakes Brewhouse

Poured dark amber, with a white head. Nice lacing on the glass. Aroma sweet, malty, and fruity. Flavor had a mild sweetness and a mild bitterness that mixed well. Caramel notes also present, nice complex brew, flavors really mixed well. Very smooth and easy to drink. I’ve never had a vienna before.

Deep clear amber with a nice lasting head. Predominate malt aroma and flavor with notes of caramel. Delicately hopped. Well balanced and enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a nice rich dark amber color with a medium off white head. Very nice hop aroma. Taste of toasted malts with a hint of brown sugar. Finishes with a bit of caramel and hoppy bitterness on the after taste. A great beer from Great Lakes!

A spritz reddish yellow with tan head. Aroma of toasted malt. A robust caramel flavor and mellow hop balance. This is a fantastically smooth Vienna.
