Commercial Description:
Deep Amber red color, with a fragrant malt aroma. Flavorful notes of rich caramelized malt and noble hop flavors harmonize on the palate leading to a crisp clean finish. Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors, who frequented the brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes still evident today.

This is my favorite lager produced in this region. If I were to describe this beer in two words they would have to be "fruity malt" then I’d add in words like carmel and hops, shortly after I’d add the question "Hey, can I get another?".

Perfect color for style, nice head, good flavor. Much too hppy for a true Vienna Lager. The hops overpower the malt. Still a very good beer, just not great for the style.

In a blind taste test I say no way this is a lager...too full flavored (roasted malt and hoppy bitterness) with a rich mouthfeel and nice crisp bitter finish. Pretty good.

Didn’t like this as much as their other lager on tap, but it was pretty good. It does have a very smooth drinkability, and fantastic colour and aroma.

12oz bottle. Best by 10/22/07. Pours a deep amber color with a small, quickly fading white head. Aroma is pretty standard lager, though pleasant. Honey, slightly toasted malts, a tad sweet, grainy. Crisp, sweet, carmel taste. Smooth and light bodied. Very clean yet still flavorful. I’m not a big lager guy but Great Lakes certainly makes some of the best in the country.

Reddish amber in color with a nice persistent off white head. Good smell that has a balance of hop and malt. Nice hop bite in the taste that fades into a light malty sweetness.
