Aroma of nuts, caramel, toasted malts, and light floral hops. Taste of sweeter caramel, light nuts, citrus fruits, toffee, light toast, and a bit of hops in the finish. Very Mellow malts, just a touch of caramel. Hops are equally mellow, with just a little bitterness and graininess. A slight flourish of poerter malts toward the end.
Original rating: 9/16/03, Score: 4.1 Draft. Did not even realize this was a lager beer, thought it was more of a brown ale (that’s a compliment). A nice creamy head, almost stoutlike. Had a good beery smell with a touch of fruitiness that led me to think this was an ale. A complex hop taste that I thought had more American hops that the normal German ones. A delightful brew that stands out at any autumn party. unclebleen (620), California, USA

I can smell the toasted malts, and they are the predominate early flavor, followed by a brief hint of sweetness hiding in the strong carbonation. There is a dry, bitter aftertaste which is not unpleasant and fades very slowly until my next sip. RAYBOY01 (1829), Chicago, Illinois, USA

The hops overpower the malt. Still a very good beer, just not great for the style. heynik1885 (53), tonawanda, New York, USA
