Its about time the experts at Great Lakes produced a Weizenbock and they didnt’ disappoint! Perfect aroma and spicy, banana taste with a well hidden alcohol note. You will like this beer. It’s a bit expensive, though.

Spicy clove and banana on the nose, with caramel malts, and hints of honey. Pours a light amber with a thin white head. Bready citrusy flavor with some banana and spicy clove with a light caramel, very nice weizen bock!!!

12oz from goryshkewych. Pour opaque amber- caramel color with a white head. Nose is bread, brown sugar, spice, and banana. Flavor is brown sugar and banana up front with bread, caramel, and fizz in the rear. Medium-bodied and enjoyable sweet weizen bock. Nice wheat flavor present in addition to the sugary bock ness. #950.

Pour is a clear amber with a small quickly dissipating head. Very prominent banana with a mild spicy finish. Not much going on but not bad by any means

12 oz bottle from DrBayern (thanks Matt!!), Pours a cloudy, cool looking, dark orange/red with a tiny little white head. Smells of mild banana, clove, some sweet tart fruits, wheat, cinnamon and malts. The flavour is slightly tart, mildly carbonated, with a profound wheat presence. Seemingly more weizen than bock. Dry wheat malt tastes finish w/ a clove and toasted malt and raisiny clove spiced short lived aftertaste. Leaves the palate clean begging for more! Well made and enjoyable beer, much Mahalo Matty!

Bottle. I was certainly not expecting this. Wow...what an offering from GL! Not typically one of my favotie styles but I believe I’ve been converted. Big Hefe characteristics, smoked with a full body. Lightly carbonated with a smooth finish. A great beer.

7/14/2009: I’m glad to see that Great Lakes finally put Glockenspiel Weizenbock into bottles so that I can try it... The beer pours a hazy copper to amberish color with a beige crown that bubbles away pretty quickly. The aroma has caramelized sugar and some banana. The flavor has banana, light spice, a yeasty middle, and the alcohol is hidden. This beer has a medium to meidum-full body and is chewy. Overall this beer is a big hefe and very good. Summary: This beer tastes like banana dipped in caramel with ground clove sprinkled on top!

12 fl. oz. bottle (8.0% Alc/Vol) at Courtside Pizza & Sports Bar in Athens, Ohio during Ohio Brew Week 2009. Rating #113 for this beer.
