| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 31, 2008 Bottle. Pours a golden color with a decent head. Nose is sweet vanilla taffy. Flavor is sweet, thick, with a viscous mouthfeel. Fairly malty with a lightly hopped/bitter finish and very full-bodied. I remember the regular Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold as being rather thin and weak, however, this is very different in its imperial state. It was unusual, but I would say I liked it. zebracakes (1216), Washington DC, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Aug 30, 2008 Bottle. Pours clearish gold, white head. Aroma is malty, metallic, and ketchupy. Flavor is syrupy, malty, hoppy (grassy). I can’t say that I like this genre of beer. It’s not refreshing, you can’t drink a bunch of it for fun, and it’s not complex like an imperial stout.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 29, 2008 What a deep, sparkling golden pour this beer produced. A smallish white head. Aromas of malt, and some light fruit aromas and maybe a hint of graham crackers. Flavor is rich and slightly sweet and it all malt. Really nice beer. Naven (875), Poway, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 28, 2008 Really nice looking beer. A deep rich golden color. Aroma is light hops, wheat and flowers. Flavor is fairly harsh, bitter, yet somewhat smooth. Alcohol is noticeable. I really don’t see the need for "Imperial Lagers", I think this would have been perfectly well enough without the extra alcohol. The regular dortmunder is really good. At any rate, this wasn’t bad, but it was a tad bit unnecessary. holdenn (1443), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Aug 28, 2008 12 oz bottle from Discount Liquors in Milwaukee. Pours a clear yellow with a white head. Hay pale malt aroma with a note of fresh flowers. Pale malt and fruit flavors that have a nice creaminess and then that alcohol with a faded hop finish. Wow, that alcohol and faded hops are cloying and just bad. This is tough to drink. naivepegasus (185), USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 26, 2008 Pours a clear orange with a finger of slightly off-white head. Odor of hops, with a hint of sweet malts. Starts off with a bit of sweetness which then ends with a bitter hop aftertaste. It doesn’t mask the alcohol as other 7.5% beers. Its alright- I actually like the dortmunder gold better. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Aug 26, 2008 Bottle from miketd. Thanks man! Pours a clear orange gold color with a creamy whitish head. Smell is fruity and strongly malty and honey like. Taste is very much like what I’d expect in a highly alcoholic lager. Cloying and abundantly obvious alcohol kick. Decent body, but the alcohol presence lingers and ruins this beer. This absolutly didn’t need to be imperialized.
