Happy 20th Anniversary, Great Lakes Brewing Company!!!!!
The beer pours a deep golden body with a lofty, dense, sustained head that laces the glass liberally. The aroms’s awfully sweet - grainy with some honey and light floral scents. The flavor retains that heavy malt sweetness, but there’s a good balancing amount of grassy & floral hop bitterness to hold it in check. It finishes on a fairly balanced note, leaning slightly toward the sweet side, with a splash of alcohol.

Bottle, poured a beautiful deep golden color with a thick head. Aromas of bready grains and some alcohol. Taste quite similiar, pretty hot with a grainy sweetness. This wasn’t bad but I MUCH prefer regular Dortmunder.

12oz bottle. Pours a gold/copper with a 1 inch white head. Aroma is mostly malty sweetness with a little hop and some alcohol. Flavor is the slightest bit of hop and citrus, but mostly malt. Sweet finish with a touch of alcohol. They did exactly what they said on the label, but unfortunately the label didn’t mention anything about adding hops to balance out the added malt and alcohol. Not a bad beer, but kind of a letdown.

8-26-08 bottle thanks to miketd
Clear orange pour with a decent spotty almost white head. Smell is dough and spice. Flavor is interesting sweet dough with a sharp little bite to it, but the aftertaste is not very good. Overall, not great, but I don’t want to vomit - so it’s a toss-up.

I’m going against the grain, but I quite liked this one. It pours to a dark golden amber/copper body with a thin white head. Nice glowing vibrancy. The aroma is doughy and hearty breads with a nice subtle leaves and noble hops. The flavor has an intensely caramelized bread dough, cookies, and subtle bitter grassy hops. Nice malt profile. Comes off as having a nutmeg or mace. Creamy light bitter palate is a bit too carbonated and too bitter. Awesome beer, however.

12 oz bottle sweet aromas with some Macro touches. Flavors were dry and a little bit of European hops. Alcohol in the finish. Just OKAY.

Amber orange color. Smell of toasted grains/malt, hops, light citrus, honey, bread and sugar. Taste of sweet corn, hops, malt, wheat, citrus and a light alcohol burn.

Bottle from lb4lb. Thanks, Deniz!
Pours a beautiflully sappy thin amber with a nice head of slight rust. Aroma is garbage disposal vegetable with a touch of cinnamon malt. Taste is earthy butterscotch, with a hint of caramel in the finish. Was not expecting this level of sweetness. Alcohol is barely noticeable, if at all. Nice, thick mouthfeel. Stinks but tastes pretty good. I’d take this to a party.
