Overall, the aroma was understated, consisting of cereal grain, a hint of caramel, cream, and a little orange and mango. Medium bodied and slightly sweet with mild to moderate hop bitterness. Tasted of noble hops, cereal grain, light caramel, and grass. Oakes (8139), Kowloon, Hong Kong
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 4, 2008 Deep golden colour with a thin head. Big malt nose with slight cidery notes. Intimidatingly rich dortness. Full body. Sweet malt. Creamy, pleasant pale malt development. Fairly dry in the finish, which it really needed to be. Slight toasty accents. Good. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 4, 2008 Pours a clear, golden color from a 12-oz bottle into a pint glass with a thin white head. Malty aroma with some grains and spice faintly in the background. Dry and bready taste of toasted malts and fruity, bitter hops. Beershine (2754), Traipsing Around, Cambodia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 3, 2008 Bottle. Clear, pure golden. Decent white head. Sweet aroma reminiscent of raisin bread. Silky mouthfeel and low carbonation. Strength is apparent but doesn’t taste of alcohol. It’s finely crafted with subtle layers of flavor. Liquid bread with a big crusty finish. Surprisingly delicious, masculine, and satisfying. taalhiker (179), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 3, 2008 From bottle. Poured clear gold color with small white head. Heavy yeast/bread aromas. Crisp, clean taste with excellent mouthfeel. Probably not worth the extra $$ vs the regular Dortmunder. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 2, 2008 Bottle. Poured a clear gold color with a thin white head. Aroma of toasted malt and bread. Flavor is slightly maltier than the regular Dortmunder, which you would expect at a higher gravity. A very crisp, clean finish. Hop profile is just as good as the regular in my opinion. Very good beer, but the Dortmunder Gold by GL is very hard to beat. Rynoplasty (544), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
