Aromas of toasted malts and strong lager sweetness. Flavors are rather sweet with some toasted malts and some earthy hops in the finish. The sweetness becomes pretty darn strong and it almost ends up tasting like a cleaner malt liquor to me, which I guess is pretty much what it is. Decent beer in a style that is not all that interesting to me. MI2CA (1266), Noblesville, Indiana, USA

Pours transparent copper with a medium head and great lacing. Flavor is also skunky malts but has some hops in the finish. Clean palate. I would have thought this was past it’s prime if it wasn’t for the date that says it isn’t. Maybe it isn’t my style. MartinT (5055), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 28, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Toasted malts and their levelled honeyed sweetness are nearly balanced out by the earthy, wooden hops in this clean and well-rounded strong lager.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam skirts the clear bronzed golden.
-Even though the malts impart a toasted bread crumb crunch, they are surrounded by a little too much sweetness for my tastes in the style.
-The wooden hop bitterness is sturdy.
-The comfy prickling and cushy rotundity make for a nourishing mouthfeel.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 25, 2008 Bottle: Poured a clear deep golden color lager with a large foamy head with average retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of sweet malt with some notes of dry Noble hops. Taste is also dominated by some sweet malt notes with a dry lightly bitter European dominated hops finish. Body is quite full for the style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not bad overall but I still think the regular version is more interesting then the imperial version. pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA
