JJPM’s summer gathering 07. Pours a chill hazed light copper with a nice lasting white head. Aroma is not quite as great as I expected- Mostly tea-like and herbal hops- floral and flowery with just some hints of citrus and pine- mild overall- nothing overwhelming. Flavor is a bit more intense with more floral and tea hops- somce cascade oranginess and some metallic harsh hints. Good tacky dry bitterness in the end though. Pretty average DIPA.

07/12/07, thanks Dan (sliffy) for this one. Cloudy yellowish orange caramel with a small creamy off white head. Aroma is full of lemon, pineapple, grapefruit--quite sour smelling--and a little caramel. Flavor is the same with more caramel malts. Bitterness peaks at a 5 (out of 10). Moderate smooth carbonation with a medium to full body. Very good beer.

Bottle, Apple cidery-looking copper with an off-white head. Piney, grapefruity hop aroma of medium intensity, nice. Sweet, malty but also somewhat tart - resinous bitterness at the end. Odd. Additional notes of grapefruit, pine and light caramel. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Bomber shared with bikesandbeer. Pours a really pretty orange amber with a thin half finger than head. Nose is big bright and beautifal. Taste is sweet, very citrussy with lots of malt overtones and some hop end. Really nice but a totally different kind of DIPA than I expected.

Bomber sent south by crizay, thanks Chris. Shared with fordest, padrefan98 and toncatcher. Pours a hazy orange with off white head. The taste comes off pretty sweet and chewy with malts that give way to mild grapefruit hop bitterness and then sweet late addition to the boil grapefruit hop flavor. Not a big hop bomb for sure as most IIPAs. But nice and tasty.

Big nose of sticky oranges and syrupy orange marmalade, along with a sickly fruit and muddy sugar presence. Big, for sure, but not dank or grassy at all… more like chewy caramelized grains, with a tinny note noticed on the back. Tastes at times like old blood oranges, with a metallic twang. I’m skeptical. I don’t notice any obvious infection, but perhaps the bottle handling wasn’t superb, or this batch is simply off.

22oz bottle, courtesy of mj. Thanks, Mike! Pours a murky, orangish-rust color; off-white head with patchy lacing. Sweet and mildly tart hop aroma; grapefruits and earthiness. Medium-to-full, sticky mouthfeel: tropical fruit, grapefruit, and chewy candy sugar; very sweet malt core; minimal astringency, but just too sticky and sweet to drink a lot of this; lengthy, sticky hop and earthy finish.

Poured from a 22 oz. Thick sunshine. Mandarin orange and toffee are predominant in the perfectly average intial aroma; hints of tide and vinegar take it for a strange and disconcerting turn. Leafy flavor leading into candy sweetness; green apple, quite tart, spices, and slick, sweetened iced tea. Butterscotch, honey, sugar; straightforward and bold, but too sweet. Sticky in the mouth and undercarbonated, letting the heat through a bit. Cloying; haphazard. Thanks for sharing, Mike!
