| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 11, 2008 Dark copper medium bone head. Aroma is fresh hoppiness. Flavor has a resiny upfront hop bite to it, which leads to the sweet rye and allows some of the hops to come through with citrus and pine. The bitterness is a little too high for this to be drinkable but if you like rye’s you’ll like this.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2009 Draught at the pub. Pours hazy pale orange amber with a thin soapy off-white head that leaves filmy lacing.
Flavor is spicy rye and a potent soapy bitter pine that finishes potently. Aggressive flavor in this good and intersting pale ale. DrHomolka (731), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 21, 2009 From a growler filled yesterday. Pours a hazy(!) golden color with a nice foamy head. A Great Lakes beer unfiltered! Excellent. Aroma is a nice strong citrus hops, plentiful and juicier than any of their other beers. I’ve never felt that this company made great hoppy beers but this is by far their best hop aroma. Flavor is bitter, malty, balanced with a creamy mouthfeel, low carbonation. I don’t know if it’s from the growler-fill or if it’s always like this but this has a nice, lowly carbonated full mouthfeel similar to a cask. Super drinkable. I don’t get any rye except for a pronounced maltiness that almost gives a vanilla note. This is excellent and really should be released in six packs. Rynoplasty (547), Louisville, Kentucky, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 20, 2009 On tap at the Great Lakes dinner at the Bethel Rd Winking Lizard on 6/11/09. I’ll be honest, this beer was the whole reason I bought the ticket. Heard good things and really looking forward to trying it. Pours cloudy orange/amber with a medium tan head. Crisp citrus aroma with bready malt notes. Tastes of bread up front, then shifts to sweet malt with a bitter orange finish. Worth it. mcbackus (756), Merritt Island, Florida, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 16, 2008 Approximately 4 oz. pour, on tap at the brewpub in Ohio City on 6-13-08. This beer should be classified as a "Specialty Grain" or "American Strong Ale." Pours a hazy amber to dull copper. Small amount of beige head. Very hoppy aroma. Nice, buttery, creamy smell. Soft flavors. Minty, grassy, spicy taste. Sweet malts. Like a Double IPA or Imperial Amber with a soft, spicy twist. This is my kind of beer! Easy to drink but boozy. Medium body. Reasonably lively and silky on the palate. Rye of the Tiger is a remarkably good brew.
