Finger-width dark brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a very light lacing. Aroma is freshly ground espresso and sweet dark chocolates with a watery edge. Flavor is similar with the fresh espresso taste and rich chocolates, but the espresso is pretty astringent. Thin and watery body with just a slight coffee aftertaste. Overall, better than I anticipated, but moving the brewery to Davenport hasn’t really increased the quality.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 28, 2009 On tap at the brewery. Dark black pour, medium carbonation and a nice aroma of vanilla and coffee. Flavor was also heavy in fresh roasted coffee, vanilla, and finished slightly sweet. Very good espresso beer, similar to Hitachino Espresso Stout but very dialed back on the bitter coffee. pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA

Aroma has a good chocolate and fresh roasted coffee aroma. Flavor is the same but adds a bit of celery and napkins. Could stand to be a little thicker. Overall a good beer, great for these guys.
