They certainly didnt go out on much of a limb making this one, as even my wife could stomach this one, but maybe that is what they are going for. Pretty average stuff. Some dark chocolate and lots of walnut and hazelnut in the aroma. Richly uncarbonated, but too much old coffee grounds and soapy texture ruins the otherwise syrupy goodness of its chocolate malt flavor.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 7, 2006 Semi-translucent and amber mahogany in color with an unresolved head resembling scattered cream of wheat. Chocolate and caramel goodness pipe out a profoundly rich nose. Creamy mocha beans and milky coffee coolers only further entice while being nurtured by cocoa dust over lightly toasted pecans & walnuts. Bigger flavored than the rest of this brewery’s offerings, striking a chord of almond butter and easily quaffed gooey turtle candy pieces. Eased carbonation lets the milk chocolate and expressive caramel draw out more spontaneity. Honey roasted and chocolate coated almonds bridge to the bigger bodied belly that is well balanced for what it is. It’s a brown done right, finishing with Hershey milk chocolate chips and brown sugar, along with a chocolate chip cookie sweet consistency and the classically gooey caramel center. Dark brown pour, off white semi-thick head with good lacing. Aroma of cinnamon, other spices. Flavor has some nuttiness, a hint of chocolate and a roasted profile. Mouthfeel is a bit too spritzy for my liking and is slightly thin for the style. Just decent. PattyBoy (302), North Liberty, Iowa, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 21, 2005 Thin bodied and watery texture. Some nuttiness from roasted malt with a touch of hazelnut. But this too seems to suffer from the same off-style floral note that so many of great Waters beers seem to have. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 17, 2005 Brownish-red. Good nose, peaty and rather porter-esque with its roasts, bit of wood smoke. Darn good flavor here, sweet malts, mildly spicy. Nicely smoky, rich with maple syrup sweetness. Some chocolate at the end. Good palate, sticky and syrupy, but not cloying. It doesn’t strike me as a particularly traditional brown ale, but it’s enjoyable for what it is.
