Commercial Description:
Translation from the label. "Already in the 17th century lobster from Bohuslän was sent to The Royal Court in Stockholm. Our swedish lobster hav ethroughout the centuries defended it's position as a delicacy worthy kings. Just in time for the lobster season has brewmaster Robert Bush - Grebbestad Bryggeri along with sommelier Niclas Pihl - Restaurang Sjömagasinet and the Swedish Lobster Academy created a beer, HUMMER. The beer is especially suitable to lobster and other seafood. The brew is limited to approx. 20000 bottles. The hand crafted HUMMER is a full malt beer. Among the malt varieties used is, alongside pilsner-and caramell malt also wheat malt, which gives HUMMER a soft and fresh character with some acidity. The German hop variety Perle and the American Cascade is in hormony with the flavour of seafood." NB. Hummer is swedish for lobster.

This beer has a lovely aroma of sweet malt and hops with notes of oranges. Mine was a slightly hazy orange with a beutiful though collapsing head. Maybe the hazyness is because mine was somewhat out of date. Lovely flavor of malt sweetness blending very well with aroma hops. It has notes of lemon and oranges. It ends on a slight bitterness that lingers - a really well done beer. Many thanks go to Per.

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, deep golden with a creamy, off-white head leaving a curtain of laces. A little caramel in the nose. Medium body with a soft mouthfeel, distinct caramel flavours and a whiff of cardboard. Very subdued bitterness. 180908

Re-rate 2002 version: Golden. Fruity, malty and slightly peppery nose. Sweet and complex, really well hopped, citrus aroma. Bitter finish. 5.5% but feels bigger.

Bottled@SBWF2007. Yellowish golden colour, not much head. Aroma is diacetyl, grass and some slight hoppyness. Flavour is quite much the same, in a not too exciting mix.

Light bronze; dry grains and alcohol predominate. The body has a vibrancy that I enjoy. Tasty pale bock.

Cloudy blond color. Ripe (too much) malty aroma. Very much honeyish. Too old!

Golden color, good creamy white head. Leafy hoppy and diacetylic nose. Sweet, soft malty flavor with toffeish diacetylic notes. Bitterness in the finish. Despite having Cascade, has some Bohemian-stylish character.
