Tried a bottle from 2005. Brownish red in color with a beige foam. Malty taste with some alcohol notes. recently tried the new brew from 2007. Very nice and complex mix of maltiness and hops. Rounded with full body and a hint of bitterness. Will most likely improve with time. Will save a few bottles for later !

(Bottled, vintage 2005, abv 7,9%, at Delirium Café, Gothenburg 6 July) Colour is tawny, with a firm beige head. Nose is malty, sweet, slightly wineous with notes of chocolate, toffee, caramel and black currant. Taste is malty, wineous with a well balanced sweetness and notes of dried fruit (apricots). Nice bitterness in the long wineous finish. Good stuff.

Bottle, at Plan B, RBESG pub crawl, August 2005. Copper colour with a reddish tinge. Less soy sauce than the norm for a doppelbock, which is good for me as, although I’m plenty fond of soy sauce in Chinese food, I’m not keen on it in a beer. Heavily malty aroma. Full bodied with a fair amount of licorice on the palate. Sweet, of course, but it is a doppelbock. I often struggle with doppelbocks but this I enjoyed, even if it was a fairly small sample.

(33cl bottle, 2002 vintage, thanks Ungstrup) Minimal off-white head with murky copper body. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, raisin, some chocolate. Taste is moderately sweet, mil chocolate, raisin, caramel. Somewhat thin body, creamy, alcohol nearly invisible. Definitely showing its age.

330 ml bottle from 2002 - Murky bronze-brown body with almost no head. The aroma has hints of raisins and choclate but obvious oxidation hampers things. THe flavor is simialr, raisins, cocoa, and carboard. Watery, thin very attenuated mouthfeel with little evident residual sugars.
