A fantastic brew! Unmatched even in Bavaria, and this is by a Swedish brewer!

Bouteille 33cl. 2007. Systembolaget. Sublime arôme malté/fruité. Belle couleur ambrée profond. Goût de malt caramélisé, levure fruitée, amertume discrète, houblons arômatiques. Excellente bière!

33 cl bottle - Dark amber colored beer with a small beige head. Aroma is very nutty, actually some hazelnut feeling to it. Very strong roasted almond flavor to it, which surprisingly enough isn’t as common as it should be, specially considering how well it works with the enitre flavor.

Bottle, 2008 vintage, purchased at Systembolaget Karlstad in September 2008. My last review here wasn’t that serious, so I decided to rewrite it from scratch. Pours a deep ruby red color with a small, dying head. Amazing color anyway. Aroma is vinous; notes of port wine, dried fruits, toffee, liquorice, slightly nutty. Damn good aroma imho, very appetizing! Flavour is sweet, malty and vinous; dried fruits, toffee, port wine & (sweet) liquorice. Palate is filling, fullbodied, smooth, a bit oily even. Carbonation is soft. Overall a very nice sipper. I gave this 4.0 in September but this is even better than that! An amazing doppelbock, and overall one of the best Swedes all categories!

2003 bottled, with ram on label
Deep rich malty aroma, toasty, with raisins and prune, roasted grain, and brown sugar. Dark brown red hazy with off-white lacing head. Medium-thick oily body with medium-light carbonation. Sweet malty start, with raisin, licorice, alcohol. Warming. Nice dry bitterness and more licorice comes to finish. After is sweet-bitter, licorice, and oily. Nice doppelbock for sure.

Bottled - 2002 vintage. Dark amber with no head. Dusty aroma. Hugely malty, dryish and full bodied. very firm and dense maltiness, rich and wonderful. Balanced toasty bitter finish. Perhaps not overlycomplex, but wonderfully flavourful. This beer keeps getting better for every year, but sadly also harder to find.

Nice crystal clear auburn appearance with a thin but dense head. Very earthy flavor with a slightly smoky finish. The alcohol warms you from the inside and is not overbearing as some doppelbocks can be. Another quality beer from Sweden, thanks Per.
