On tap @ the San Diego Strong Ale Fest. Tasted the ’First Anniversary’ edition - they also had a ’Second Anniversary’ on tap. Poured a dark reddish, brown color with a small white head. Subtle aromas and tastes. A little musty. Struck me as being past its prime.

Apple like with notes of alcahol. Pretty generic and harsh strong ale. What’s with anniversary ales these days? Is it really that hard to comeup with something better?

Liar’s Club - Tap - San Diego. Clear crimson and brown, fluffy tan head. Nose is spicy, chocolately, hint of smoke. Flavor brings out notes of sweet toffee and nutty caramel while still being backed by the piney hops. Good balance. Medium bodied, oily, very soft carbonation, smooth dry finish. Worth a try if in the SD area.

On tap at the Liar’s club in San Diego... Sparkling clear, mahogany ale with a small, creamy, beige head. Excellent lacing. The aroma is of chocolate and light hickory smoke. Well-balanced flavor, well-hopped, moderately bitter with notes of chocolate and caramel. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Short, watery finish.
