Huge hop nose, of the fruity, piney variety. The initial flavor was also hoppy, similar to their Imperial Ipa, but with a fuller mouthful. The hops are well balanced by a strong malt backbone. There was a hint of alcohol, but not too strong , and not really overpowering. The finish was supercharged bitter, and very long lasting. This is almost like a huge imperial ipa, as opposed to the sweeter more port like barley’s. Regardless, it is quite good. HenrikSoegaard (4427), Randers, Denmark

Heavy malty and hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Long nice moderate bitter fionish. Creamy palate. Not as vinius as other Barleys. Nephilium (558), Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 20, 2008 The aroma starts off with a blast of hops, there’s a touch of alcohol hiding behind the hops, and after the hops get through, a touch of caramel. It pours a clear ruby red, with a huge fluffy light tan head. Nice caramel flavor, with a touch of pine to balance. Long caramel/bitter finish. Alcohol slightly noticeable in the flavor. Quite a tasty barleywine. I may have to try to get my hands on some to lay down. FrankJohansen (3397), Århus-Randers Crew, Denmark

Sweet aroma and taste of caramel, fruits and alcohol. Slightly bitter finish. Too alcoholic for my liking. Marthinus (127), Denmark

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 16, 2008 Bomber. Pours dark copper with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma is vanilla cake icing blended with fruity hops. Interesting but nice. Taste is an explosion of hop flavor. Tons of citrus and pine, fizzy on the mouth. The bitterness is borderline over the top but it’s all right because it keeps the substantial sweetness at bay, just barely. One of the better American Style Barley Wines I’ve tried recently. mirjukka (705), LOHJA, Finland
