Commercial Description:
Our American-style Barleywine undergoes a three hour boil to intesify the caramel malts and the enormous Pacific Northwest hop charge. The result is a rich, estery brew with toffee notes and citrus hop flavors layered throughout. Enjoy this brew fresh today or lay it down for aging to see how the flavors of each vintage evolve.

I had high expectations on this one and was let down.Murky copper pour with a 1finger head. Decent lacing. All I got out of this was pine resin and some caramel and toffee in the background with a semi thick mouth feel and bitter finish. It grew on me a little as I drank but would not do a repeat of this one.

deep copper color, off-white head, lacy. nose of hops, with a trace of earthy maltiness. caramelly flavor with dried fruit, and plenty of citrus bitterness and some of the high alcohol peeking through. medium bodied, light bitter finish. tasted @ family liquors in homewood.

GIve me a break, I’m rewriting this thing cause your stupid ass server decided to not work. Sugary and grainy malt with caramels. Flavor very similar. Good beer.

RnH: Ya gotta love Barleywines... they can choke a donkey! This one is particularly rough... strong tones of spoiled wine, uber high esters, bitter finish, suprisingly high carbonation... the beer borders on offensive. Very complex and deep flavors, that 3 hour boil did the trick!

Bomber, poured a mahogany body topped by beige head of foam. Aroma was moderately sweet, pine/grapefruit, caramel, cherry and peach. Flavour was initially bold, as extremely hopped up tangerine, pineapple, and pine with toffee, caramel, and raisins compromise the malt backbone. This is still fairly lopsided with hops and bitterness. Decent, yet smooth barley wine beer.

Bottle, 22oz. This beer really delivers the goods. It looks nice in the glass, with its hazy, reddish body under a small, creamy beige head, and the aroma is just the way it should be. Sweet, meaty maltyness with some alcohol and loads of citrusy hops. The flavor is also quite sweet and beefstocky, but leaving plenty of room for the hops. Resin, pine cones and citruspeel and of course a good bitterness to combat the sweetness. Full-bodied and with a certain warmth. The finish is of the lasting, bitter kind. A lovely blend of sweetness and bitterness. 090724

22oz bomber. I have had a bottle of this already..last week to be exact. So hopefully the fact that I enjoyed that one will overshadow the fact this one exploded a bit when opened. The aroma is certainly off...a little like wet leaves. The beer pours an opaque dark copper with decent foamy head and little if any carbonation. The taste is strongly influenced by toffee and caramel malt notes, then the hops arrive to carry the palate into sharp, lush bitterness that last nicely. The alcohol is fairly evident...given time this might be better or the exploding bottle may indicate an issue that would compromise the aging potential. This would have gotten a higher rating if I’d taken notes the last time I had it...was better then.
