Cloudy deep amber colour with an off white head. caramel and fruity sweet aroma with hoppy piney notes and hints of chocolate and coffee. Sweet, light roasted flavor with hoppy notes.

Nov 29, 2009 Poured a deep amber color with a decent sized off white head that left quite a bit of lacing. Caramel malt aroma along with some citrus. Heavy toffee flavor, with some caramel and citrus fruit. Full bodied and finished with a slight hop bitterness. Overall, an excellent Barley Wine.

Nov 28, 2009 Clouded red pour. Lovely dark aged aroma. Dark fruits and nice feelings of aromas. Also has a fair amount of heavy alcohol smell. Heavy fruit taste. Heavy heavy. Taste fairs with some rich woody flavors. This is a solid barleywine. Very nice.

Nov 27, 2009 What a freaking barleywine! Had this one aged 2 1/2 yrs and it is a pleasure. Lots of apples, tart crisp apples everywhere, and there are also some rotten ones underneath the traditional aged barleywine profiles. Aroma is all tart crisp fresh apples with some super uber tart brett. Mmmm. The roasted malt is what sets this one apart. The malt is medium in sweetness but the toffee is sugary and fully bodied and flavored. Wonderful beer.

Nov 24, 2009 Wonderful hoppy aroma and malt complexity. Caramel and toffee notes. Delicious. Thinking about picking up another and aging.

Nov 22, 2009 2007 vintage - This one has a nice reddish color with a roasty, sweet, caramel/hop aroma. Lots of alcohol and sweetness with some hop remnants and sugar. Nice overall, but fairly average for the style.

Nov 20, 2009 Updated: Nov 22, 2009aroma is strong boozy vinous note, similar to old white wine. also element of slightly rotten fruit and bitter fruit skins, grape and green apple. all combine to nearly offensive levels. this seems to be the ’orange juice/milk’ syndrome where heavily citrus hops do not exactly marry with toffee malts. flavor is extremely bitter beginning to end, with less malt character this would excel as an IIPA. flavor is of metallic with background of grapefruit. appearance is burnt amber. this would benefit from cellaring in theory, as the massive hops die down just a touch to create a better balance and marriage.

Nov 19, 2009 22oz - 2nd Anniversary - Aroma is strong alcohol, sweet caramel malts and some hops. Flavor is a little dusty with tons of caramel malt and resinous hops. Palate is sticky. Still tasty despite the 5 years in my cellar.

Nov 17, 2009 Bomber. Pours a dark brown with a nice, tan head. Nose is overripe fruit and brown sugar. Taste is of toffee and overripe fruit. Mouthfeel is bitter. Average barleywine.
