Commercial Description:
Our American-style Barleywine undergoes a three hour boil to intesify the caramel malts and the enormous Pacific Northwest hop charge. The result is a rich, estery brew with toffee notes and citrus hop flavors layered throughout. Enjoy this brew fresh today or lay it down for aging to see how the flavors of each vintage evolve.

2008 Bottle. Poured a dark brown/red body with thin head. Aroma is sweet candied fruit and malt. Flavor is slightly sweet, dried fruit, plum and some hops. Pretty good BW, now let’s see how this does with 3 years on it.

Rich mahogany, quick to dissipate beige head, no lacing.
Aroma is of alcohol, caramel, high sweetness, high hops.
Flavour is hot, Hoppy, quite sweet, lots of caramel, some citrus.
Warm mouth, med body, mod carb.
Finishes long, sweet and very hot.

Lacking in balance, very high alcohol throughout. It’s just okay.

650ml bottle purchased at Premier Gourmet in Buffalo, New York.

Opened on July 15, 2009.

Vintage 2008.

Orange-amber with good, frothy head / Pungent nose of weed, hops, and spice / Medium body, lightly sweet, with good malts attempting to counter a big hop punch, with excellent finish / Flavors of pine, caramel, cough drops, and licorice / More towards a double ipa than a barley wine, but terrific in any case.

Sweet aroma, deeply bitter taste. Aromas of maple and alcohol, tastes of bitter grapefruit rind, somewhat chalky. Rust colored and cloudy. Alcohol will bite you. A lot like Rogue Old Crustacean.

Poured a deep amber color with a decent sized off white head that left quite a bit of lacing. Caramel malt aroma along with some citrus. Heavy toffee flavor, with some caramel and citrus fruit. Full bodied and finished with a slight hop bitterness. Overall, an excellent Barley Wine.
