Bomber, poured a mahogany body topped by beige head of foam. Aroma was moderately sweet, pine/grapefruit, caramel, cherry and peach. Flavour was initially bold, as extremely hopped up tangerine, pineapple, and pine with toffee, caramel, and raisins compromise the malt backbone. This is still fairly lopsided with hops and bitterness. Decent, yet smooth barley wine beer.

Dec 1, 2009 Sweet aroma, deeply bitter taste. Aromas of maple and alcohol, tastes of bitter grapefruit rind, somewhat chalky. Rust colored and cloudy. Alcohol will bite you. A lot like Rogue Old Crustacean.

Nov 30, 2009 Poured from a 2 oz. bomber. Copper amber color. Smell of sweet caramel malt and a little booze. Very smooth and rich in your mouth.Good solid balance of butterscotch, toffee, and hop bitterness. Nice barley wine.

Nov 30, 2009 Bottle from the Eastchase Majestic. Hazy red pour with an off white head. Brown sugar, malts, and caramel aroma. Taste is alcohol, brown sugar, and roasted nuts.

Nov 29, 2009 Poured a deep amber color with a decent sized off white head that left quite a bit of lacing. Caramel malt aroma along with some citrus. Heavy toffee flavor, with some caramel and citrus fruit. Full bodied and finished with a slight hop bitterness. Overall, an excellent Barley Wine.

Nov 28, 2009 Updated: Nov 30, 2009Bottle courtesy of Fratto. Clouded red pour. Lovely dark aged aroma. Dark fruits and nice feelings of aromas. Also has a fair amount of heavy alcohol smell. Heavy fruit taste. Heavy heavy. Taste fairs with some rich woody flavors. This is a solid barleywine. Very nice.

Nov 27, 2009 What a freaking barleywine! Had this one aged 2 1/2 yrs and it is a pleasure. Lots of apples, tart crisp apples everywhere, and there are also some rotten ones underneath the traditional aged barleywine profiles. Aroma is all tart crisp fresh apples with some super uber tart brett. Mmmm. The roasted malt is what sets this one apart. The malt is medium in sweetness but the toffee is sugary and fully bodied and flavored. Wonderful beer.

Nov 22, 2009 2007 vintage - This one has a nice reddish color with a roasty, sweet, caramel/hop aroma. Lots of alcohol and sweetness with some hop remnants and sugar. Nice overall, but fairly average for the style.
