| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2009 This beer pours a reddish-brown color with a medium-sized off-white head. The aroma burst out with piney and grapefruit tones. The flavor was quite bitter...citrusy, with a slight sweetness (but not enough for a good barleywine.) The feel was sharp, dry, with just the right amount of thickness to it. Pretty good "California Barleywine."

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Dec 24, 2009 22oz bottle. Cloudy reddish- medium brown color. Light tan head. Loads of toffee and chocolate malts, very nice toasted malt aroma. Nice light hint of citrus. Like those toffee candies with orange essence you can buy during the Christmas Holidays. Flavor of rich caramel malt. Lots of em. A nice body of toasted malts with a hint of nuttiness. Bold PNW hops character. Lots of grapefruit and big bold hop bitterness. This beer has aged very well, it is at least two and a half years old. Very strrong as well.

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 14, 2009 Orange-amber with good, frothy head / Pungent nose of weed, hops, and spice / Medium body, lightly sweet, with good malts attempting to counter a big hop punch, with excellent finish / Flavors of pine, caramel, cough drops, and licorice / More towards a double ipa than a barley wine, but terrific in any case. wingman333 (250), San Antonio, Texas, USA
