On tap at the brewery. Black color with a tan thick head. Black coffee and malt on the nose. Medium full body with a smooth mouthfeel. Good flavors of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and sweet caramel. Moderately dry finish with a bit of sweetness. Good beer.

On tap at OBrien’s. Black. Thick tan head. Double coffee stouts rule! Great chocolate coffee aroma, that coats your mouth and lingers on. Milky creamy texture. Light illusion of sweetness, but dry finish. Nice.

On-tap at Stone. Pours dark brown/black with a medium size, light brown head that leaves some lace. Smells like sweetened coffee grounds, earthy and dirty. Tastes the same. Slightly sweet roasted malts with some very earthy, nasty coffee ground flavor. Sourness on the finish. Not very good at all. Medium body, fizzy carbonation.

Draft at Obriens. Nose is big espresso coffee with hints of milk chocolate, marshmallow and vanilla. Flavor follows suit, coffee grounds-bomb the palate with cocoa nibs and vanilla-brown sugar sweetness hanging in the back, roasty character, hints of grassy bitter hops, finishes sweet. Medium-full body, smooth creamy texture, modest carbonation. A huge coffee stout, rich flavors, quite drinkable since the alcohol presence is muted.

Served on tap at the San Diego Brewers Guild Festival 2009. The appearance is rich and deep black with a big brown head. Flavors and aromas of deep roasted coffee with a slight lean towards burnt, bakers chocolate, mild oak, and a touch of bitterness. Very nice!

A deep dark stout with a thick moka head. A nice sweet chocolate aroma with nutty notes and roasted coffee, chocolate milk. In mouth, a nice herbal chocolate with light roasted coffee, nutty. Rich and smooth. On tap at Ballast Point 13 Anniv. Beer Festival , Oct. 24 2009.

Pours deep brown with an inch-thick tan head. Aromas are of red fruits, caramel, chocolate and of course coffee. Taste actually begins with floral hops before a balanced coffee and bittersweet chocolate, followed by a bitter ending in which the alcohol really comes through.

Pours a medium/dark chocolate brown with very small head. Nose is heavy on milk chocolate, cinnamon, and coffee. Taste is moderately silky with chocolate, slightly bitter coffee, rich and sweet balanced with the bitterness from the coffee. quite delicious.
