| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 17, 2009 Bottle: Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a stringy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet biscuity dark caramel malt with some doughy Belgian yeasty esters. Body starts with good fullness and sweet chewy caramel malts. Has a mild bitterness toward the finish with some lingering clove and orange peel spice. Pretty true to style and hides its alcohol dangerously well.

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jan 14, 2009 Decadent and rich for a beer on tap, and considering it is a new beer to 2008, pretty amazing at the balance. Cloves, chocolate, smoke and charred wood flavors complement the slightly ester yeast character, with a strong dark fruit, raisin and fig character. Rich, thick, dark and warm. Best beer of 2008? | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 12, 2009 22oz bottle. Super dark red pour with an off white head. Sugary sweet aroma, with a yeasty banana undertone. Taste is slightly sweet, candy sugar, ripe fruit. Pretty tasty. jrob21 (1278), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jan 11, 2009 Poured a cloudy but sharp brown color. Aroma was fruity and nutty. The fruit is more on the dark red fruit side with some cherry and a hint of plum. Flavor has a tinge of wild belgian yeast with some fruit as well. A little quick on the finish. Easy to drink and relatively simple. Hard to make out many distinctive characteristics. chimay67 (30), hunt sta, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 10, 2009 On tap at Jimmy’s #43 in NYC on 1/7. This was one heck of a fruity, jammy abbey ale. Reminded me a lot of Rochefort 10. Mind you this was on tap and I haven’t cracked any of the bottles I have in the cellar. I am hoping that the bottle can hold a candle to the draft version. mspindler (351), Alta Loma, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 10, 2009 22 oz. bottle shared with DuffmanSW. Pours a dark hazy brown with a thin beige head. Aroma of belgian yeast and fresh dark fruits, perhaps some molasses. Flavor is a little unbalanced with spiciness and bitterness, makes it hard to recognize other flavors. Some candi sugar and fruit. Not bad, just not complex. Smooth mouthfeel with plenty of carbonation, but not too much. Sparky27 (1608), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Pours a deep reddish brown with a one finger beige head that leaves great lacing. Nose is malt, dark fruits, light banana and spice. Taste is toasted malt, dark fruits, light molasses and spicy yeast in the finish. Medium mouth feel. Pretty good stuff. Thanks Jason!
