Caramel aroma, it reminds me a Doppelbock, with a hint more of hops. Good body; it has a strong caramel flavor, some yeast, quite stong alcohol feeling. Quite good. alexsdad06 (1082), Ohio, USA

The aroma is malty with spices and yeast. The flavor is malty, moderately spiced, yeasty, hints of bubble gum, and a solid dose of fruits like raisins. Medium bodied. This isn’t a bad beer, I think I was just expecting more. JaBier (1219), Capital City, Ohio, USA

Darkest brown pour with a medium tan head. Malty aroma with Belgian yeast, fruit and lots of chocolate. Subtle banana and clove flavor up front with some chocolate malt and booze before a chocolate finish. Pretty good, but a bit too sugary to be great. Beerdedone (1885), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 23, 2009 Very dark brown pour with a lasting tan head. Aroma is chocolately with some roasty notes as well as vanilla. Full bodied, high carbonation. Mouthfeel is almost chewy and this one has a heavy roast flavor. Lots of dried fruit, plum, raisin towards the middle. Finish reveals some belgian phenols, banana, light citrus. Pretty interesting brew. Alcohol is evident. Definitely a sipper. padrefan98 (788), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 20, 2009 Tap at City Beer in SF. Dark brown - almost a little purplish or maybe it’s just the lighting - with a tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, dark fruits, hops, and a little yeast. Flavor is dark fruits (esp. cherry), sweet malt, candi sugar, slight roast, and more hops than I expected. Smooth and fairly full on the palate. Good but not great.
