Name: Grand Cru
Date: December 25, 2008
Mode: Bottle
Source: South Bay Drugs, San Diego
Appearance: opaque dark brown, fine beige head
Aroma: rich chocolate malt aroma, lots of fruity esters, dark caramel sweetness, light spicy phoenolics
Flavor: rich malt flavor, dry dark chocolate, spicy phoenolics mixes with an earthy character to produce a dry bitterness, just a hint of caramel sweetness, rich chocolate with dry spicyness just does not meld as well as hoped

Dark fruits and olives on the nose with raisins, dark sugars and bubblegum. Thick, sweet sugar taste with light raisin and fruit. Typical oversweet American Belgian attempt..I will never like this type of unbalanced beer. fiulijn (7520), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy

Caramel aroma, it reminds me a Doppelbock, with a hint more of hops. Good body; it has a strong caramel flavor, some yeast, quite stong alcohol feeling. Quite good.
