Commercial Description:
Our Belgian Style Dark Ale is inspired by traditional Abbey Ales to deliver the richest of malt flavors but with a slightly elevated hopping and increased complexity given from two different yeast strains. This malt laden ale is designed to satiate and keep your taste buds dancing.

Pours very dark brown with a dense tan head. The aroma has lots of bready dark malt, dark caramel, chocolate and only a light bit of Belgian yeast. Medium rich body with lively moderately sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with some earthy Belgian yeastiness, roasted malt, light cream and some char. The finish loses the Belgian aspects and is char heavy with some woodiness that is either from hops and / or oxidation. Okay beer.

Pours an opaque dark brown with a small tan head which quickly recedes to a film. Aroma is of raisins, figs, brown sugar, and honey. Flavor has a nice malty, ashy bite right from the start, then comes slight alcohol, nice hop counterpoint, and finishes burnt and leathery. Average mouthfeel. Nice authentic Belgian Strong here for a SoCal brewery. Overall, very good to excellent.

Draft at Obriens. Dark ruby to brown hue with light swath of tan bubbles. Nose is dark fruits, molasses, sweet malts, and a touch of oak. Flavor is classic dark Belgian, with big raisins, figs, brown sugar, and hints of Candi sugar, slight grassy-earthy hops play in the carbonation, hints of vinous grapes, oak, vanilla, cocoa and coffee in the sweet finish. Full-body, thick texture, lively carbonation. Thick, complex dark Belgian strong ale with tons of flavor amped by the wine barrel aging, alcohol strength is on the radar but not overwhelming.

[2528-20091012] 1pt6floz bottle. Mild salty seawater malt aroma. Dark brown black body with a long-lasting creamy tan head. Full boozy malt grain flavour. Fully body. Nice balance, not complex but good.

bottle, pours dark mahogany with a medium tan head. Brown sugar, raisin, and yeasty aroma. Flavors are nice with a carmel malt and brown sugar being upfront and some spicing and raisins in the background with some alcohol coming forward late with a sort of metalic sour note in the finish. Solid dark BSA.

Pours a two finger light tan head that fades very slowly leaving a good lace. Deep brown color. Good carbonation and medium-heavy bodied - almost chewy. Caramel/raisin nose. Flavor is smooth, sweet raisin and caramel. High ABV is hidden. $9.95 for a 22oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, MA.
