Commercial Description:
Resinous hop character and bitterness balance the rich caramel malt base. We took it a step further and Amarillo dry hopped the brew to 45 IBUs, creating refreshing and savory hop flavors and aromas. Is it Red IPA? That’s your call.

On tap at the brewery in Vista. Pours a mostly clear, amber-red body with a finger-width, creamy and frothy, light brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves some nice layered lacing. Aroma jumps out. Lots of resiny and sweet citrus with some rich, lightly toasted caramels. Flavor is quite nice. Lots of moderate to heavy earthy hops and sharper, slightly sour citrus. Semi-sweet caramels and a touch of toasted bread with a nice fruity touch. Finishes with an aggressive earthy bitterness and a long lingering taste. Medium to full bodied and easy drinking for such a harsh beer. Overall, a damn tasty "red." Straightforward, but intense and well balanced. Very nice.

Bottle. Amber brown body. Light reddish-brown frothy head that slowly diminishes. Lots of floaties. Thick aroma of toasted grain, caramel, citrus and resin. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, moderately to heavily bitter and moderately acidic. Medium to full body with a velvety texture and lively carbonation. the aroma indicated more malt than hops, but the flavor and finish made it absolutely clear this is a West Coast hoppy beer. Still, there’s a solid caramel, malt base. Nice.

Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass on several occasions. So, this is one of my death row beers; what I would drink right before they give me the shot. The nose is just ridiculous. The flavors are unbelievable. I’ll try to be somewhat objective in my description. The beer pours a medium copper with a slight white head. The aroma shows notes of Columbus hops (which seem to be in all of Green Flash’s best beers) and a nice balance of caramel. The palate initially shows some sweetness, but soon gives way to the aforementioned hops. I get hops first, but a really nice caramel note that seems to blend almost perfectly with the hops. The finish is what I would call medium-sweet...not cloying, but not really all that dry. Overall, just an unbelievable sample; one that you dream about and score in high quantities whenever the beer gods smile on Pittsburgh and deliver lots of it to western Pennsylvania.

Thanks to ghawener. Wow. Really nice, amber ale? Taste more like an IPA maybe extra. Green Flash is at the top of my list. They produce well balanced hoppy ales.

Bottled. Reddish brown, small beige head. Citric and grapefruity. Sweetish and caramelly with rounded, fairly slender mouthfeel. Hop driven with lingering powerful bitterness. Tasty stuff!

Fresh tasting right at the brewery. I love Green Flash. This is a mild offering, it has the sweetness of caramel with a good kick from the hops. Very easy to drink and rather refreshing. I have had this many times before but noticed when I tasted it at the brewery that I had not yet rated it. This is a good year round drinker.

Bottled@Konttori, Tampere. Deep reddish amber colour, small foamy head. Aroma is grassy and fruity hops along with some caramel malts. Flavour is quite much the same. The grassyness really grows towards the finish.
