Sweet, hoppy aroma, plenty of caramel and citrus along with lighter notes of toasty, nutty malts, pine, faint spice and flowers. Cloudy deep garnet in color with a fine, lasting head and what would have been a large amount of sediment had I not carefully left most of that in the bottle. Nicely fresh, tasty, bitter hop profile, combined with sweet, toffeeish malts and a certain background fruitiness, drying out to a large extent towards the crisp, citric finish. Gently oily and smooth palate, body is medium. Not quite a Red IPA, but a very nicely hoppy Red. This was gone way too quickly. mistersinalin (378), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 27, 2009 I love hoppy reds and this is no exception. I had to come to Massachusetts from Minnesota to get this beer from San Diego. Make sense? Anyway, this beer has a really nice hop character with nice caramel malts. In addition to being a great beer, this beer boosts your cribbage score. Try it! sinkr (225), Lusby, Maryland, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Nov 26, 2009 Tap->honker: pours a thin brown head atop a dark red body. Very hoppy aroma, medium body, bitter taste and yet another great Green Flash product. hogan873 (334), Joliet, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 22, 2009 Red body with a nice, frothy off-white head. Some decent lacing results! Complex aroma consisting of sweet malt, molasses, and some good grapefruit and floral hops. Medium bodied and creamy. As with the aroma, the flavor is complex. Sweet caramel and malt up front with a very nice bitter finish. Here is where the grapefruit hoppiness announes its prescence. I like this beer a lot. TheGrandMaster (1870), Auckland, New Zealand
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 17, 2009 Bottle (in NZ). Looks alluring in the glass, with a big frothy off-white head. I love the fruitiness of Amarillo, so I’m easily sold on this. A sticky resinous on the palate, that works well with the rich and light toastedness of the malt, with a touch of pepper in the finish. alagnak (359), Littleton, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 14, 2009 Interesting one - this is a tale of two beers. Poured @ fridge temp - the Amarillo completely dominate the nose (in a good way) - spicy, grassy light grapefruit. Flavor is initially a short burst of toffee and caramel malt that didn’t show up in the nose with a little leather before fading to a really bitter dose of grapefruit. As it warms, the toffee and slightly sweet maple syrup flavor starts to take over and balances a lot better. oteyj (776), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2009 Brown pour with an excellent frothy beige head and copious sediment. Aroma is toasted and caramel malt, marshmallow, and a resinous hop backbone. Flavor is an excellent balance of caramel, toffee malt, and citrusy pine. Hop character is high for the style, but welcomed and pleasant. Palate is medium bodied with below average carbonation, and a pleasant sticky resinous finish. For the style, its grand. craftycarl21 (562), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2009 Quite a brown pour with a nice thick frothy head, beige in color; sediment present as well. Aroma holds lots of caramel malt, toffee, molasses, and some citrus and resinous hops in the background. Flavor is predominantly malt, with, again, lots of caramel, toffee, and a touch of maple syrup. Hop character is subtle, but balances the malt nicely, with a bit of floral dryness at the finish. Palate is pleasant, and certainly full considering the style. Nice brew from Green Flash.
