| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 7, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear deep copper color with sediment throughout, and a monstrous light mocha head which tests the limits of surface tension as it pushes up high above the glass. Ample lacing. Rich resin filled hops would comprise the entirety of the aroma were it not for a rich toasty caramel note hiding in the background. Bitter flavor right up at the front of a medium mouthfeel with just a hint of sweetness in the middle. The finish rather creeps up on you with a slow subtle grapefruit note. I don’t get much sweetness in here to balance out the hops, but personally, that’s not something I mind. pjweaver (133), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Crisp fresh hop aroma, some citrus, warm and rich. Dull blunted hop bitterness on taste, grassy hops, toasty bitterness. WeeHeavySD (3041), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA

Nice hop character for an Amber Ale. Caramel malty after taste though. A very smooth red/amber ale with a nice hop presence. jrob21 (1277), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 30, 2008 Dark brown color with a quickly dissipating tan head. Big hop character for this amber ale. Add some hops to your typical amber characteristics of caramel a little nuttiness and some red fruit and you get this beer. Grassy aroma and you are reminded of the hops again on the bitter metallic finish. Interesting flavor profile for sure. blklab2007 (977), Connecticut, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 29, 2008 bottle poured into a tulip glass has a dark burnt caramel red color and a thin tan head that became a thin layer. aroma has bitter and citrus hops, caramel, grapefruit, nuts, and some floral pine. mouth feel is medium and it coats well. flavor has a good malted base, caramel, bitterness, and juicy citrus hops. bitterness picks up and it finishes drying and lingers a bit. surprising punch for only being 45 ibu. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 29, 2008 pint @ Tylers Apex. Good aroma, bitter sweet grapefruit, orange, leather, butter. Brownish orange color, ok head and lacing. Bitter flavor, citrus bitterness is dominant with occasional caramel, pine notes. Medium body, creamy mouth feel, bitter flavor. Good though I think this was a tad old, but I can’t be sure. Aroma would have moments of greatness but then would fade. Flavor was very bitter for the claimed IBU.
