Super duration with fine lacings. Hoppy wonderful aroma, lots of fruity grapefruit. Some clear caramel behind it and some pine as well. Lowish carbonation, fine, dry mouthfeel. Great flavour, super balance between the sweet caramel and the heavy hoppiness. Lots of pine, grassy and grapefruity hops. Super dryness. Extremely drinkable. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 22, 2008 Beautiful dark amber with a thick head. Woody aroma with a hint of grape. Citric flavour with a great variety of hoppy notes. The aftertaste is surprisingly aggresive for an IBU of "only" 45. drewbeerme (2305), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 20, 2008 Color is a deep hazy amber with a good bit of sediment floating around. Carbonation is good with a a nice tight off white head. Aroma is sweet with citrus hop tones. Taste is very citrusy. Starting with a medium body it goes down crisp with a citrus feel. Finish jumps right out with a big grapefruit flavor a hint of pine then a bold bitterness. After taste is a lingering citrus. It has no malt to so I dont think its much of an Amber Ale, more like an over hopped IPA. This one is just too citrusy for me, but still ok to drink. talon1117 (628), Bellvue, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 19, 2008 Pours a hazy, dark, blood red color with a yellow, moderately full, creamy, pillowy head which is mostly lasting and leaving nice lace. Nose is APA- or IPA-like with so many hops; lots of floral, lots of resinous pine, ruby red grapefruit, a touch of spicy dry-hopping, and hints at caramel malts. Flavor is still hoppy with juicy citrus hops of ruby red grapefruit, some rustic notes, pine needles in there too, some spicy resins, all in front of a sweet caramel backbone (far in the backgrond). Palate is medium, oily, and soft to lively. Finishes with rustic notes, some lingering pine needles, and a hefty bitterness. A moderately high bitterness, nice hop flavors, and a light malt backbone. More like a highly hopped APA but either way a good hop forward American beer. SudsMcDuff (1703), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA
