Pours a dark reddish amber with a large bubbled beige head that left a ton of lacing. Nice bright citrusy hops with a little bit of a resiny accent. Lots of caramel maltiness here too. Biting bitterness hits you right away and never lets go. The maltiness emerges mid swallow with some caramel and crystal malt. Pretty full bodied with a fairly thick texture and a slight resiny stickiness on the finish. Nice soft fizzy carbonation. A nice hoppy red, I almost always dig these. agl108 (509), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 27, 2008 Pours a dark reddish amber with a small beige froth. Earthy aroma, dusty, light pine and a touch of peppercorn. Flavor is quite earthy, off-dry, medium bitterness, touch of caramel, pine needles and a bit of brown sugar. Medium bodied, with a big fluffy mouthful, lightly syrupy. Not the hop-bomb I was expecting. brentfeesh (1039), Gadsden, Alabama, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 26, 2008 Bottle. Deep caramel color, creamy off-white head. Aroma of hops, pine, cedar. Strong bitter flavor, some sourness, very much like an IPA. Secondary sweetness, but aftertaste definitely a woody bitterness. Fills the mouth. Some lacing. Maltiness greatly increases as beer warms. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 23, 2008 12oz bottle pours clear amber with a tan foam surface looking like the surface of the moon. The aroma has brown ale type notes only much bolder. I get tasty roasty and nutty notes mixed with caramelized malts. In the background are mild citrus, earthy, pine and a pinch of spicy hop qualities. The taste is bigger than the nose hinted at with an initial rush of pine hop bitterness, roasty malts and growing hazel nuttiness. I start to get sweet crystal malts and mild citrus hops rising up around the midway point. It ends with lingering juicy nectar like nuttiness laced with pine hop bitterness, wow. This is good.
